Screw bell, however works better as a fixed bell

Description

This is an example of the rarely spotted Alexander model 102 compensating double horn.

A real vintage item – this one is very old! Maybe 1930s or so. As such a lot of work has been carried out to keep it playing and it will need an owner who can cherish it and take care of its quirks!

Valves have been plated, so compression is reasonable. The screw ring works with patience but the instrument is best treated as a fixed bell horn.

Despite this it plays with a neat sound and is lovely and lightweight to hold.

Not one for heavy everyday orchestral use, but lots of charm remaining and we’re sure someone will love this piece of history.
