Description
The Boosey and Co. Sotone model piston horn was a copy of a borrowed Raoux and first developed in 1910. This Sotone piston horn is yellow brass with a garland.
It is a nice example of an English made piston horn dating to the early part of the 20th century before Boosey and Co. joined forces with Hawkes and Sons. The valve compression is reasonable and the horn plays freely.
A lovely little piston horn – perfect for playing late 19th/early 20th century repertoire. This horn could provide lots of fun playing in a period style, pretending you are a piston horn superstar like Denis Brain, or using it when you are booked as an extra in a period drama…
This one even comes complete with original handmade leather case, and includes two F crooks both playing at A440.
