We don’t know who advises Holton, however we are very surprised that the company has chosen to discontinue this model horn horn.
In our opinion this model is one of the best intermediate level horns around. With a medium bell taper it is not too large for still-growing students, and has a body of sound that is easily good enough grade 8 playing and beyond.
This particular example is in very good condition – very little evidence of dents – however does have a couple of areas of dezincification on the outside of the bell flare and one of the slides. This won’t change the way the horn plays – it is still a very fine instrument.
It comes with the original case, although the new owner may want to budget for a case that would be easier and in better condition for going to school/rehearsals (fixed bell, back pack case prices start from around £60.00).
