Description
Well this is a real piece of history! Played by Frank Downes in Birmingham as CBSO principal horn back in about 1950.
A truly vintage Alexander 103 in yellow brass, with a fixed bell and hard case, this horn makes a very rich and dark sound with a beautiful tone.
It has been heavily patched over the years which always suggests that somebody really cared for it. Valve pressures are low, and plating could be carried out, but it is still not playing too badly all things considered.
It dates all the way back to theĀ 1930s. Who knows the number of concerts that this horn must have played…
An opportunity to buy a classic horn model at an bargain price and make a glorious sound!
