Description
This is a beautiful, historic handhorn dating from approximately 1830 and made by the excellent Parisian horn makers Gautrot. It has a fabulous Chinoiserie-style painted bell. The partial wear on the paintwork gives excellent information about historic left hand positioning and use. Crooks for keys from high Bb to C Basso with a coupler for Bb Basso and slides for A440 and A430.
It comes with a wooden box with brass detail – almost certainly original, and a mouthpiecethat is contemporary to the instrument.
This is really the whole package – perfect for those interested in period performance and collectors of historic instruments.
These horns come up very rarely in as complete condition as this one.
