Well this is a real piece of history!
A vintage Alexander 103 in gold brass. In gold brass, with a fixed bell and hard case, this horn makes a very rich and dark sound with a beautiful tone. It has been carefully hand lacquered by its current owner to make it look smart.
It has been extensively patched over the years which always suggests that somebody really cared for it. It has also had its valves re-plated to improve the valve pressures. 2nd valve remains a little low but without seriously impacting the instruments response.
We think it dates all the way back to the 1940s. Who knows the number of concerts that this horn must have played…
An opportunity to buy a classic horn model at an affordable price and make a glorious sound!
