Description
There are only a few of these horns that have been built. This particular horn was built for Michael Thompson who played it for a number of years. It is now being sold by one of Mike’s former students.
Paxman 23’s are usually free blowing, and this is no exception. What makes this instrument unique is that it is a double horn with a stopping valve, which allows for transposition-free hand stopping (who wouldn’t want that!). This can also be used as an A valve to drop the Bb horn a semi-tone.
The titanium change and stopping valves reduce the weight – so there is no need to worry about the instrument being overly heavy to use. It’s lacquered and in fair condition for its age, with plenty of life left for its new owner! Yellow brass with a medium bell taper, this instrument should very much be a contender for anyone thinking of buying themselves a new double horn.
