Description

The Paxman model 42 is a descant horn Bb/highF with a difference – It has a standard F alto side paired with a Bb side that features the third valve ascending system. What this means in practice is that the third valve on the Bb horn acts as a C valve allowing for fantastic top As. On the F alto horn the third valve is descending as usual. This combination allows for fantastic security in the high register. It also includes the usual stopping valve, as found on other descant models and comes with a handy F extension.

This example is the post-1985 descant deisgn – it is built in nickel silver and unlacquered, screw bell, with a large bell taper, which combines very well with the nickel silver material to create a large sound without being too dark. It comes with a Paxman cases suitcase-style screw bell case.
