Description
The Paxman model 30 is a compensating F/Bb horn. Compensating horns give the same full range of notes as a full double but utilize both sides of the instrument when using the F side. Without the full double tubing they tend to be lighter to hold – and this one is very light! This example was built in 1969 from nickel and is in very good condition with good valve compression – hard to believe this horn it is almost 50 years old! It is unlacquered, with a duck’s foot/flipper for extra left hand support and has a large screw bell with the original hand engraved logo – a free blowing horn with a rich, dark tone. It comes with a fixed bell Paxman fiberglass case.
